This group-interactive member orientation helps members learn:
♦ what it means to be a member;
♦ why their MBO differs from for-profit and other nonprofit organizations, and;
♦ how to make the most of their membership…engage in ways that matter most to them.
Members’ stories have taught us that most members don’t know how to find what they need, when they need it, and in a format that works for them. MBOs need to teach (i.e., socialize) them how to use the organization as a vehicle to achieve their personal and professional goals. Members who use this relation-centered approach – as part of their ongoing engagement planning – to making the matches that matter most to them become inspired not just to get involved in the most traditional ways but do so in ways that will exceed your expectations.
This 1 to 1.5 hour session (which can be adapted/shortened if needed) is guaranteed to change the way your members view your MBO. More importantly, it shows them how their expanded engagement (as participants, volunteers, and volunteer leaders) is actually an investment that furthers their desired outcomes…never-mind also assisting your volunteer and staff leaders in advancing your MBO’s mission, goals, and priorities.
The module includes general guidelines, facilitator preparation and talking points, key graphics, and participant materials.
This session is an excellent way to change members’ attitude about engagement. It can be conducted as a stand-alone or pre-conference session.
