This dictionary, established by the Melos Institute, offers insight into terms used to describe concepts and practices related to a management paradigm uniquely designed for membership-based organizations (MBOs); specifically created to assist association management professionals and volunteer leaders to advance their MBOs’ goals…as well as empower their members
to do the same.

These terms differ from the current transaction-based concepts and practices in that they not only embody a relation-centered dimension, but have also been proven effective at generating better and more lasting results.

If used routinely, these terms will help volunteer and staff leaders develop a better appreciation and understanding of their MBOs. And, ultimately be able to deliver more meaningful, purposeful, and transformative experiences to their members.
